Personal

I grew up in New Jersey and then spent 8 years of study in the Northeast before moving South. I have loved my time down in Atlanta, although I miss being close to the beach! A very sociable person, I spend lots of time with my friends here in the city, and I love travelling to see friends and family in other areas of the country. I am a very active person who loves sports and athletics, especially tennis. I also love spending time with my perfect dog, Marty!

My Approach

I am integrative, meaning that I draw from different theories and approaches to flexibly meet the needs of each individual client. My work is informed primarily by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and psychodynamic/interpersonal theory. What this means is that I believe that the relationship we have with our thoughts, feelings, bodies, and the pain and struggle in our lives often locks us into patterns that, in the long-term, are not helpful. The more we struggle and resist or ignore different elements of our experience, the worse things often get. In the context of a warm, open therapeutic relationship, I want to help you explore and make contact with these internal experiences and learn to relate with them differently and more flexibly. This will help you make changes and live a meaningful life that is more in touch with what’s important to you. I carefully consider one’s culture, including aspects of identity, power, and privilege, and the individual differences between therapist and client, which informs and enriches the therapeutic process. Additionally, I specialize in mindfulness-based techniques, such as mindfulness meditation, and often incorporate elements of mindfulness into therapy.
